A special salute to William Phillips, founder of the California Domestic Ferret Association (CDFA) and savior to thousands of ferrets. Without his selfless dedication we would still be in the “stone age of ferrets” in California. Bill single-handedly acquired the rescue permit from Fish & Game, establishing the only legitimate rescue program in California. Since 1984, he’s accumulated reams of research and information which ferret folks are using to pursue legalization. Without Bill, we would not be where we are today. Bill—we love you and thank you for your hard work. A big hug and heartfelt “thanks” for the tremendous moral and financial support of Valentino Petrusich. I love the business and my customers, but it’s never enough to provide everything the ferrets need. Valentino has been there to fill the sometimes huge gap between what’s coming in and what has to go out to keep us and CDFA in business—a business of ferrets, that is! Valentino, I and hundreds of ferrets thank you! Occassionally you will hear that the poultry industry is anti-ferret. Not only is Valentino in the poultry business (third generation), he has secured the support of the California Poultry Industry Federation and the Pacific Egg Producers Association in the fight for legalization.
