In 1989, Hildy left her management position at a software company to found “Critters,” a giftware outlet specializing in animal motif items. She discovered that displaying and marketing ferret products as part of her Critters gift store was an excellent way to reach California ferret fanciers who were afraid to seek veterinary care or information due to the legal status of ferrets. By advertising ferret novelties and supplies, and sponsoring the legalization, education, and rescue causes in conjunction with CDFA, FerretWare has been a major force in bringing awareness to the ferret loving public. |
